Originally released in 1979 and long-out-of-print, Nick Lowe's Labour of Lust album has been remastered to its original glory and now includes both the U.K.-only track "Endless Grey Ribbon" and the U.S.-only track "American Squirm," along with the bonus B-Side "Basing Street." Hailed by Trouser Press as "a brilliant piss-taker that pairs sprightly pop and savage lyrical wit" and by Rolling Stone as "...a hookfest full of barbed wit," the album features Nick's worldwide mega-hit "Cruel to Be Kind" and is being released on pink vinyl for a limited time!

Pub rocker, producer, singer/songwriter, Nick Lowe, has always existed under the radar because his talents were too of beat to be fully appreciated by the music industry. And that suited the ‘basher’, just fine, imagine, a debut in England called, Jesus of Cool, 1978, Radar Records, and later released in the USA and Canada, as Pure Pop for Now People (hints at the album’s sound). No matter how the industry tried to shape Lowe, especially in the USA, his musical chops were a little too ingrained in his personality to be treated as a commodity.
Lowe’s second album Labour of Lust was appropriately titled for the 1979 release, remastered with an added power punch. It is a superior effort of 12 fleshed out songs with a bonus single.
Radio friendly but following the ‘pure pop’ craft, Lowe had a kick ass band which became Rockpile and backed up Lowe and Dave Edmunds (guitars) on their solo albums, with Billy Bremner on bass, and Terry Williams on drums.
If you don’t know this classic album then I urge you to BUY IT! Labour Of Lust contains so many wonderful classics, I could list the songs titles but playing this album on heavy rotation is a must!!!
