Bad Moon Rising is a noisy mess of broken guitar barriers and screwing the new SY guitar language. The 1985 release is a dire portrait of the American dream gone badly off course. In the vortex of the nightmare SY played with the country’s obsession with sex and death. In a tribute to CCR the title track and cover with scarecrow on fire says more about the state of despair than most felt.
Seamless in sound and themes eleven songs howled as they skidded off the road of California, Death Valley ’69 with Lydia Lunch is mayhem at its finest. Other highlights the vision that the sixties were not all peace and love.
Overall the album was an extension of their live shows which were rapidly gaining a bigger audience.
