New volume in the Mr Bongo Record Club series. A selection of finds, from the genres Brazilian, Latin, soul, disco, gospel, cosmic, dancehall and downtempo. Mr Bongo has chosen a diverse range of artists, including Brazil’s Os Panteras, the underground disco of Claude Jay, the Danish soul sounds of Gitte & Inger and the gospel excellence of Truth & Devotion, to name a few.
Most of the selections in this volume are older vintage productions, but there is a very special contemporary production recorded exclusively for Mr Bongo Record Club 7. For “Spring Has Sprung”, the label has brought together three close collaborators: cult artist Asha Puthli, the wonderful band SOYUZ and Swedish maestro Sven Wunder. The result, as you might expect, is absolutely breathtaking.
